SNOWE & COLLINS ANNOUNCE $14,845 FOR MOSCOW WATER DISTRICT

Washington, DC – Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the Moscow Water District will receive a $14,845 federal grant for upgrades to the town's water and waste disposal system. The funds are expected to be used for construction of new reservoir mains, booster stations, a second stream crossing, and equipment to operate the system. The grant will cover a cost overrun of the original planned project.

"Small communities often have a limited amount of resources for upgrading public utilities. We are pleased that this grant was approved in order for the Moscow Water District to complete this project that will improve water and waste services for local residents and businesses," said the Senators in a joint statement.

The grant is awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development program. The program supports essential public facilities and services as water and sewer systems, housing, health clinics, emergency service facilities and electric and telephone service.
