SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $400,000 TO UPGRADE

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) announced today that the Federal Transit Administration has awarded $413,592 in funding to the Casco Bay Island Transit District (CBITD) for the upgrade of the existing ferry facility in Portland.               “This project will provide crucial transit services for commuters traveling to and from the six islands in Casco Bay,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.  “The upgrade will also improve passenger safety by segregating the paths between pedestrians and traffic.”               The Federal Transit Administration directs federal funding to each state to support public transportation systems such as buses, subways, light rail, commuter rail, streetcars, monorail, passenger ferry boats, and inclined railways.     ###
