WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $100,000 grant to the Shaw House in Bangor to help fund its street outreach program.
“This funding from the Department of Health and Human Services will help the Shaw House fulfill its mission of providing warm and safe shelter to homeless and runaway children in the Bangor area,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.
The Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) is the United States government's principle agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves. The Department includes more than 300 programs that cover a wide spectrum of activities and administers more grant dollars than all of the federal agencies combined.
