Blaine, ME – Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins visited the Central Aroostook Ambulance Service (CAAS) in Blaine to meet with the crew, board members, and local town managers, and to see the new ambulance CAAS purchased with the support of $454,000 that Senator Collins secured through Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations legislation.
“The emergency responders, paramedics, and drivers of the Central Aroostook Ambulance Service work hard to provide Mainers in Blaine, Bridgewater, and Mars Hill with access to reliable and high-quality emergency medical services when they need them most.” said Senator Collins. “As Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to support Maine’s EMS and rural health care providers.”
Through her role on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Collins has secured more than $1 billion in Congressionally Directed Spending for 534 local projects across Maine in the last five years, including investments that strengthen rural infrastructure, improve access to health care, and support childcare and workforce development.
This month, Senator Collins received the Legislator of the Year Award from the American Ambulance Association for her work on the Protecting Access to Ground Ambulance Medical Services Act and the Comprehensive Alternative Response to Emergencies (CARE) Act.
