U.S. Senator Susan Collins released this statement tonight after learning of the death of Sergeant Kevin Balduf in Afghanistan. Sgt. Balduf, who is originally from Nashville, Tennessee, was assigned to the 8th Communications Battalion out of Camp Lejeune, N.C. His wife is from Richmond, Maine. Sgt. Balduf was killed Thursday in Helmand Province.
"I am saddened to learn of the death of Sergeant Kevin Balduf. Our nation will be forever grateful for his selfless sacrifice and brave service to our country. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and fellow Marines."
