Caribou, ME – U.S. Senator Susan Collins attended the Caribou Maine Veterans’ Home’s (MVH) 35th anniversary open house yesterday and celebrated alongside residents and their families, staff, community partners, and board members.
“The incredible staff at MVH Caribou provide dedicated and skilled care for the heroes who have sacrificed to defend our freedom. It was a pleasure to join the MVH community as this wonderful organization marks 35 years of caring for Maine veterans in Aroostook County,” said Senator Collins. “As Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to ensure Maine’s veterans have access to the benefits and resources they have earned through their service.”
Senator Collins secured $6.6 million through Fiscal Year 2023 and 2024 appropriations legislation for MVH facilities and has advanced more than $3.6 million in legislation that is currently pending in the Senate.
Through her role on the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Collins has secured more than $1 billion in Congressionally Directed Spending for 534 local projects across Maine in the last five years, including investments that support law enforcement and first responders, improve access to health care, strengthen rural infrastructure, and support childcare and workforce development.
