"Today's disappointing decision by the FCC could have serious and long-term consequences for the diversity of voices and free expression in our nation. Recent trends suggest that control of the lion's share of television programming increasingly rests in the hands of a select media oligopoly. The FCC's ruling will further limit the choices of the American people both on broadcast television and cable networks. The FCC should have held a public hearing before it issued its decision so that the implications of this ruling could have been more fully explored."
