SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE OVER $3 MILLION IN RURAL DEVELOPMENT FUNDS FOR MAINE

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that Maine has been awarded $3,180,400 in rural development grants and loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

"These funds exemplify the federal government's commitment to improving and supporting rural communities throughout Maine and across the country," Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement.

The federal funding was allocated as follows: • $1,902,000 in conditional commitments for guaranteed loans to Paradigm Developments, LLC and PROTEA Behavioral Health Services, LLC to restructure real estate debt and to provide for the acquisition of additional real estate which will allow all administrative staff to be co-located.

• $966,000 in conditional commitments for guaranteed loans to St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Inc. to restructure existing debt and provide permanent financing for a building addition measuring 3,600 feet. Four rooms, a therapy room, and two nursing substations will be added.

• $190,000 in loans to the Orrington Housing Corporation to repave drives and walks and make safety upgrades and handicap access improvements to two units. This is a 30 year loan at 6.37 percent.

• $122,400 in grants to the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments to reduce hazardous wastes from entering landfills and to provide assistance with the disposal of bulky waste.
