SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY GRANTS FOR MAINE

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced $108,889 in grants to the University of Maine in Orono. The funding is awarded through the Susan Harwood Training Grant program of the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

"The OSHA grants distributed to the University of Maine in Orono will enable employees to receive the training and education necessary to keep them safe from injury," Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement. The funds awarded to the University of Maine - Orono are "general industry hazards" grants, which are to be used for programs that train workers and employers in the recognition and prevention of safety and health hazards.
