SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE NEARLY $400,000 FOR MAINE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins today announced $388,250 in U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grants to the State of Maine. These funds will assist in community development projects.

"We applaud the federal government for their continued commitment to promoting economic development in rural communities," Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement. "The local facilities and services in Washington County will benefit from these federal grants."

The federal funds were allocated as follows:

• $175,000 to Indian Township for an eldercare home.

• $150,000 to Pleasant Point for upgrades to the Split Rock Pier project.

• $38,500 to Indian Township to assist with elderly facility overrun costs

• $24,750 to Indian Township for warden service storage facilities.
