SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $900,000 FOR KENNEBEC VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Washington, DC –Senators Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) and Susan M. Collins (R-Maine) announced that Kennebec Valley Community College has been awarded $955,831 in Community-Based Job Training Grants (CBJTG) to enhance the college's healthcare programs.

"Kennebec Valley Community College offers valuable training to students and professionals in Maine," Senator Collins said. "These funds will allow KVCC to enhance its health care program, through additional faculty and specialized courses. Further, incentives will be provided to encourage young adults to pursue training and employment in the health care industry." The primary purpose of the Community-Based Job Training Grants is to build the capacity of community colleges to train workers to develop the skills required to succeed in high growth, high demand industries. Community-Based Job Training Grants support workforce training for high growth industries through the nation's community and technical colleges. Projects that have received funding through this program include industries from health care and construction to advanced manufacturing and energy.
