"Additionally, these federal awards will provide critical financial assistance to victims of crimes." The federal funding was allocated as follows: · $3,013,969 to the Maine Department of Public Safety for the Edward Byrne Memorial State & Local Law Enforcement Assistance Program. The funding will assist in efforts to control violent and drug-relate crime and support national drug-control priorities. · $1,955,000 to the Maine Department of Human Services for Crime Victim Services. The funding will assist local community-based organizations that provide direct services to crime victims. · $979,000 to the Maine Department of Public Safety for the STOP Violence Against Women Program. The federal funding will continue implementation of effective, victim-centered law enforcement, prosecution and court strategies to address violent crimes against women. · $175,000 to the Maine Office of the Attorney General for the Crime Victim Compensation Fund. The federal funding provides financial assistance to victims of both federal and state crimes.
