SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND GRANTS

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced $96,500 in funding from the National Park Service (NPS) in Land and Water Conservation Fund grant awards.

"We are sure this much needed funding will go a long way toward enhancing and conserving land in Oxford, Stratton, and Old Orchard Beach," Senators Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement. "Such financial support for land and water conservation is always welcome."

This funding will benefit the following entities:

· Oxford Community Center Complex, Oxford, Maine….…..$22,500

· Stratton School Playground, SAD 58, Stratton, Maine…….$24,000

· Veterans Memorial Park, Old Orchard Beach, Maine……..$50,000 The Land and Water Conservation Fund is a partnership program that provides matching funds to states and local communities for acquisition, development, and conservation of parks and open space. The program is administered by the National Park Service in partnership with state governments. The State of Maine has received over $37 million since the inception of the program.
