WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that Maine has been awarded $52,000 in grants from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The funding distributed to the Southern Maine Economic Development District is for the continuation and implementation of an economic development planning program.
"This grant gives Portland federal support to continue programs that improve economic conditions in the region through the creation of private sector wealth and the reduction of poverty," Senators Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement.
