"This new recreation area will provide a great new space for young people to get together, play sports, and have some fun. It is always positive when a community is able to provide a place for its children to spend time doing activities that they enjoy in a safe environment," said the Senators in a joint statement.
The grant will be awarded by the National Park Service through the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The fund is a partnership program that provides matching federal funds to states and local communities for acquisition, development, and conservation of parks and open spaces.
The total cost of the recreation area project is estimated at $85,000.
