SNOWE & COLLINS ANNOUNCE $3.7 MILLION FOR PENOBSCOT VALLEY HOSPITAL

Washington, D.C. -– Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the Penobscot Valley Hospital has been awarded a $3,700,000 rural development loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The funds will be used to construct a new surgical suite, including two operating rooms, preparatory and recovery areas, and a waiting room.

"This new surgery suite is a valuable addition to Penobscot Valley Hospital. It enhances the ability of the doctors, nurses, and staff there to respond to the emergencies and medical needs of the thousands of patients every year who come to them for help and attention," said the Senators in a joint statement.

Penobscot Valley Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital that serves nearly 12,000 people in the Lincoln area.

This funding is awarded under the USDA's First Responder Initiative.
