WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the Department of Homeland Security has awarded the Auburn Fire Department a $28,150 Fire Prevention & Safety Grant.
“This federal funding will facilitate valuable training in the Auburn Fire Department,” Senators Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement. “It is crucial that Maine’s first responders receive the financial support they need to keep our state safe, and this Fire Prevention and Safety Grant will help increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their response efforts.”
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program’s Fire Prevention and Safety Grant (FP&S) are intended to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire and fire-related hazards and to reach high-risk target groups in order to mitigate the high incidences of death and injuries. Funding is also allocated for Firefighter Safety Research and Development.
