SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE $1.7 MILLION FOR MAINE IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM

WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that $1,750,811 in federal funding has been awarded to Maine by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The funding has been provided to assist the Maine Immunization Program (MIP) by the Immunizations and Vaccines for Children program.

"These funds will give the state of Maine the vaccination resources needed to protect children, whose immune systems are more vulnerable than adults, from illness," Senators Snowe and Collins said.

The Maine Immunization Program (MIP) provides vaccines, education, technical assistance, as well as support services through partnerships with public and private health services in the state of Maine. The Immunization and Vaccines for Children program will provide funding to purchase vaccines, which will ensure that children throughout Maine will be protected from vaccine-preventable disease.
