SNOWE AND COLLINS SECURE $14.9 MILLION FOR BANGOR NATIONAL GUARD FACILITY

Washington, DC -- Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the US Senate has given final approval to their request for $14.9 million in funding for Bangor's Army National Guard facility. The money is included in the Fiscal Year 2004 Military Construction spending bill.

"This funding will help to upgrade the Army Aviation Support Facility at the Bangor International Airport, so it can continue to provide critical support services to our men and women in the Armed Forces," said the Senators in a joint statement.

The funding will be used to complete Phase II of a two-phase project that expands and renovates exiting administrative areas. Improvements include interior and exterior lighting, fir protection, handicapped accessibility requirements, rigid and flexible paving for aircraft parking and tie down pads, hover lanes, landscaping and physical security concerns.
