SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS NEARLY $400,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FOR MAINE DHHS And CATHOLIC CHARITIES

  U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded two Maine programs with a combined $398,059 in grant funding to assist in refugee resettlement.    The Maine Department of Health and Human Services will receive $168,059 to facilitate the organization of ethnic communities.  Additionally, Catholic Charities of Maine will receive $230,000 to assist with their care of unexpected arrivals.   “This funding for the Department of Health and Human Services will greatly assist Maine’s caregivers as they lend a helping hand to new arrivals,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.  “With better support, new immigrants will find it easier to become part of Maine. We are pleased to announce this funding.”             ###
