U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded two Maine programs with a combined $398,059 in grant funding to assist in refugee resettlement.
The Maine Department of Health and Human Services will receive $168,059 to facilitate the organization of ethnic communities. Additionally, Catholic Charities of Maine will receive $230,000 to assist with their care of unexpected arrivals.
“This funding for the Department of Health and Human Services will greatly assist Maine’s caregivers as they lend a helping hand to new arrivals,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. “With better support, new immigrants will find it easier to become part of Maine. We are pleased to announce this funding.”
