The Senators have been strong advocates for BNAS in Congress. The Senators met with Rick Tetrev, Committee Chair for the BNAS Task Force and Ralph Dean, Captain, U.S. Navy Retired, a member of the BNAS Task Force. Following their meeting, the Senators made the following joint statement:

"Brunswick Naval Air Station is vital to our nation''s defense efforts at home and abroad. With a long and proud history of outstanding performance, BNAS is the only fully capable active duty operational military airfield in the Northeast. With the establishment of a Joint Armed Forces Reserve Center, it is clear that Brunswick is an indispensable asset to our nation''s military not just for the present, but for the future as well. We remain committed to working with the BNAS community to ensure that the Navy is fully aware of the invaluable contributions that BNAS is making to the security and defense of Maine, New England and our country." ###
