SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $3 MILLION IN NATIVE AMERICAN HOUSING FUNDING

U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that three Maine Native American tribes will receive a combined $3,167,189 in grant funding as part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Indian Housing Block Grant Program. The funds will be used to provide a variety of affordable housing activities.

The funding will be allocated as follows:
Passamaquoddy Indian Township $1,117,625
Penobscot Tribe of Maine $957,238
Pleasant Point Reservation $1,092,326

“This grant funding will greatly benefit our Native American communities by assisting with the creation and maintenance of safe and affordable housing” noted Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. “We are excited to announce this funding because it will do much good for so many people.”
