SENATORS SNOWE, COLLINS ANNOUNCE $224,621 TO COMBAT METHAMPHETAMINE

  U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency $224,621 in grant funding as part of the Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) Methamphetamine Initiative.  Funding from the COPS program is designed help targeted jurisdictions across the nation combat the manufacture, use, and distribution of meth, as well as to collaborate with other entities in the prevention and treatment of meth abuse.   “The Department of Justice funds will help Maine combat the scourge of methamphetamine,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement.  “Meth destroys lives, communities, and families.  We are pleased that Maine will be the beneficiary of this funding.”               ###
