The White House has announced that it will nominate Peter Cianchette to be U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Costa Rica. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins released the following statements:
Senator Snowe said, “I have known Peter for a very long time and can attest to his dedication and commitment to public service,” Senator Snowe said. “He is an excellent communicator and is, I believe, an ideal candidate for this opening. I'm extremely happy for Peter and his family and hopeful the Senate will move quickly to confirm his nomination."
Senator Collins said, “Peter is a terrific choice for this position. He is a dedicated, hard working, and well-liked individual whose blend of business, public service and civic service experiences will lend itself to this position. He will represent our nation well. I am hopeful that his nomination is approved by the Senate as quickly as possible.”
