SENATORS SNOWE AND COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $6M FOR BRUNSWICK NAVAL AIR STATION

WASHINGTON, DC—Today the Senate approved the Fiscal Year 2005 Military Construction Appropriations bill by unanimous consent. Senators Snowe and Collins announced that this legislation includes $6.22 million for a project at Brunswick Naval Air Station.

"This work to be done at Brunswick Naval Air Station is valuable to maintain the strength of our nation's defense and ensure that our service members are working with the most advanced technologies and equipment," Senators Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement. "We applaud our Senate colleagues for recognizing the importance of this project and the highly skilled work that is done at BNAS."

The FY 2005 Military Construction Appropriations bill includes the following funding for Maine:

ü $6.22 million for Brunswick Naval Air Station for a replacement weapons magazine. This project will construct three concrete high explosive magazines with high performance characteristics as applicable, blast protection, lightning protection, ventilation, lighting, earth cover, fire protection, intrusion detection, and communications equipment. Site work will include paving, drainage, and earth cover. The demolition of 15 magazines is included in the scope of this project.

This legislation will now be sent to the President for approval.
