SENATORS SNOWE AND COLLINS ANNOUNCE MORE THAN $1,700,000 FOR HIV/AIDS BUREAU

WASHINGTON, D.C.- U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that $1,763,909 has been awarded to Augusta and Lubec for the HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

"HIV/AIDS programs are a vital and resourceful part of Maine's health care system," Snowe and Collins said in a joint statement. "The funding provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will be tremendously helpful in aiding the HIV/AIDS Bureau to ensure quality care for individuals with HIV and AIDS."

* $430,000 to the Regional Medical Center in Lubec for the OP Early Intervention SVCA with Respect to HIV Disease Project.

* $1,333,909 to Maine Department of Health and Human Services in Augusta for the Ryan White Title II Formula Grants Program..

The HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) was formed to consolidate all programs funded under the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act. The CARE Act aims to improve the quality and availability of care for people with HIV/AIDS and their families.
