U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Olympia J. Snowe announced today that the Maine Department of Labor was awarded $824,652 in funding by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Disability Program Navigator Grant Program. The grant will help provide work information to disabled Mainers to help them find employment quickly.
“This grant is excellent news for the people of Maine who depend on this funding to find employment ,” said Senators Collins and Snowe in a joint statement. “By enhancing access to reliable employment, we are offering those individuals living with disabilities the tools and resources they need to return to the workforce and invest in their future.”
The Disability Program Navigator Grant Program grew out of a joint initiative between the Social Security Administration and the U.S. Department of Labor designed to provide a “One-Stop Career Center” to ensure that Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Supplemental Security Disability (SSDI) recipients have easy access to work incentive information.
