U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Olympia J. Snowe announced today that Community Concepts, Inc. has received $450,000 in funding from the USDA’s Rural Development program. The funding will be used to construct a new head start facility in Farmington. The center will continue to provide much needed low-income day care services to Farmington and the surrounding communities.
One grant of $50,000 and one loan of $400,000 comprise the funding.
“Studies repeatedly show that Head Start helps promote a child’s growth and development,” said Senators Collins and Snowe in a joint statement. “We are pleased that this funding will provide assistance to low-income families and their children in the Farmington area by promoting further access to important head start programs that promote school readiness.”
Since 1965, Community Concepts, Inc. has been providing a variety of social assistance services to the citizens of Oxford, Franklin, and Androscoggin Counties. The organization is widely recognized as one of Maine’s best providers of social services.
