Senators Collins, King Announce $42,654 Justice Assistance Grant for City of Lewiston

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced today that the City of Lewiston has been awarded a $42,654 grant through Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The funding can be used to support officer training, technology upgrades, and the purchase of new law enforcement equipment.

“Local law enforcement works diligently every day to help keep Maine communities safe, and federal support like this grant help in that important mission,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement.  “By supporting efforts to train and equip local officers, this funding will invest in the safety and strength of the Lewiston community.” 

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program provides funding to states and local governments in support of efforts to prevent and control crime. The JAG program in administered by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, a component within the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs.
