SENATOR SUSAN COLLINS RECEIVES “FRIEND OF THE SHAREHOLDER” AWARD

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Susan Collins has been chosen to receive a "Friend of the Shareholder." award presented by the American Shareholders Association. The award is presented to members of Congress who look out for the interests of the nation's small investors and pension funds.

"I am honored to receive this award," said Senator Collins. "It is important that we remember that millions of Americans own stock as a means of providing for their children's education as well as for their own retirement security. It is important that their interests be protected."

As a Ranking Member on the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, Senator Collins has been instrumental in investigating corporate malfeasance as well as passing legislation aimed at protecting investors. When Senator Collins chaired the Subcommittee, she held more hearings on securities scams and fraud than any other topic.

The American Shareholders Association is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization dedicated to analyzing public policy and educating U.S. investors.
