SENATOR SUSAN COLLINS MEETS WITH MEMBERS OF MAINE SCHOOL BOARD ASSOCIATION

WASHINGTON, DC—Senator Susan Collins met today with members of the Maine School Board Association (MSBA) to discuss, among other things, the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Flexibility and Improvement Act. That bill, which was introduced this past fall by Senator Collins and Senator Olympia Snowe following recommendations from a Maine NCLB task force, seeks to increase local control and flexibility for states, school districts, and schools in implementing NCLB. The National School Board Association (NSBA), which held a conference today in Washington, D.C. regarding NCLB, has endorsed the bill. MSBA members present at the meeting are shown here with Senator Collins (from left to right): Kim Bedard (Kittery), Phyllis Shubert (Bangor), Senator Collins, and Kristin Malin (Georgetown). Terry McCabe was also in attendance.
