Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Susan Collins met with Kaitlin Young, General and Vocal Music Teacher at SeDoMoCha Elementary and Middle School, in her Washington, D.C., office.  Ms. Young is the recipient of the 2018 Maine Teacher of the Year Award.  She has taught at SeDoMoCha Elementary and Middle School in Dover-Foxcroft for eight years and was previously named the 2017 Piscataquis County Teacher of the Year.

“Kaitlin’s commitment to educating students and her desire to instill in them a lifelong love of learning and music is truly commendable,” said Senator Collins.  “I have no doubt that Kaitlin will continue to inspire both her students and her colleagues alike, and I was delighted to have another opportunity to congratulate her on this outstanding achievement.”

Earlier this year, Senator Collins visited students at SeDoMoCha Elementary and Middle School and listened to Ms. Young’s music class sing the school’s song, “SeDoMoCha.”

Senator Collins has visited more than 200 schools throughout Maine during her Senate service and has long led efforts to honor our nations’ public schools and improve our education system.
