Senator Collins Visits Sargent Corporation in Orono

ORONO, ME – U.S. Senator Susan Collins visited Sargent Corporation in Orono yesterday, where she met with employee-owners and company leadership and toured their facility. Sargent is a fully employee-owned construction company specializing in site preparation and infrastructure projects, including utilities, airports, and energy developments. Founded in 1926 by Herbert E. Sargent, the company is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

“Sargent Corporation has helped build and improve infrastructure across Maine for 100 years, and I so enjoyed meeting today with the members of their team who are continuing that tradition,” said Senator Collins. “Through employee ownership, Sargent's workers have a direct stake in the company’s success, allowing them to share in the financial rewards of their hard work. It is wonderful to see a Maine company with such a long history investing in the people who have helped make it successful.”

Headquartered in Orono, Sargent Corporation has more than 530 employee-owners across northern New England and the Mid-Atlantic, including nearly 375 in Maine. Sargent became fully employee-owned in 2013.
