WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senator Susan Collins recently visited the United States Coast Guard’s LORAN-C Station in Caribou. She toured the facility and met with the station’s crew. The station’s personnel presented Senator Collins with a cap to commemorate her visit.
The LORAN-C (Long-Range Navigation) system is used for maritime and air navigation. The system uses low-frequency radio waves to triangulate the position of a ship or aircraft.
