WASHINGTON, D.C.-- U.S. Senator Susan Collins released this statement tonight following the President's renomination of William Kayatta of Cape Elizabeth to the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
"It has been nearly a year since Bill was first nominated to fill a vacancy on the First Circuit. I am incredibly disappointed that a Senate vote on his nomination was delayed by election year politics.
"Bill has a stellar record, the highest ABA rating, and was reported by the Judiciary Committee last year by a bipartisan vote. Clearly, the Senate must move quickly to confirm this well-qualified nominee, and I have already talked with the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Patrick Leahy, about expediting Bill's nomination."
