WASHINGTON, D.C. -- U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a senior member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, today issued the following statement after General Dynamics announced that Jeff Geiger, President of Bath Iron Works, will become President of General Dynamics Electric Boat effective November 4, 2013.
"I congratulate Jeff Geiger on his selection by General Dynamics to be the new president of Electric Boat in Groton, Connecticut. His departure is, however, a great loss to the men and women of Bath Iron Works. Jeff is an extraordinary leader who had come up through the ranks at BIW and had worked in the shipyard for nearly 30 years, earning the respect of the workers, the Navy, and the Maine Congressional Delegation. I have worked with Jeff on countless issues to ensure a steady stream of work for the highly skilled workers at BIW who produce the Navy's most capable ships. I will continue my strong advocacy for the shipyard but will miss working so closely with Jeff."
