SENATOR COLLINS RELEASES STATEMENT ON ATTACK IN MOSUL

Bangor—Senator Susan Collins, who is a Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has released the following statement reacting to the attack today at a US military base near Mosul, Iraq:

"I am deeply saddened to learn of the attack in Mosul that has apparently resulted in the death of nearly two dozen individuals, many of whom are suspected to be active duty military soldiers.

"I have been in close contact with the Army National Guard on this matter to learn more. In addition, the Department of Defense is currently in the process of helping the wounded and notifying the families of individuals who were wounded or killed.

"I will continue to closely monitor this terrible and sad situation. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families."
