U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today praised the Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ announcement to grant $404,000 to Maine Veterans Homes for the renovation of the Alzheimer’s wing at the Veterans Home in Scarborough. The 120-bed facility will be renovated and modernized within approximately 90 days.
In response to the announcement, Senator Collins released the following statement:
“This is good news for our veterans,” said Senator Collins. “This funding will provide improved care for those veterans suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. I applaud the VA’s decision to fund this renovation.”
Senator Collins is co-chair of the Congressional Task Force on Alzheimer’s.
