SENATOR COLLINS MOURNS THE PASSING OF MARION FULLER BROWN

U.S. Senator Susan Collins released the following statement after learning that Marion Fuller Brown has died. Fuller Brown, a former Republican state representative from York, is credited with championing historic legislation that banned billboards in Maine.

"Marion was a great friend and I am truly saddened to learn of her passing. I visited Marion at her home in York in October, and we shared a lovely conversation. Marion was a kind and caring person who was devoted to her family and to public service. To me, she was a great role model and an invaluable source of guidance and support. She was a true leader in land conservation and a long time champion of the environment who was passionate about preserving the natural beauty of Maine and America. She will forever be remembered as the driving force behind the successful effort to ban billboards in Maine, thus ridding our roadways, communities and landscapes of visual clutter. Maine is a beautiful state, and we, as well as the generations to come, owe a debt of gratitude to Marion Fuller Brown."
