Senator Collins Mourns the Passing of Edward Dinan, Former NE President of Verizon

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Susan Collins issued the following statement on the passing of Edward Dinan, the former Northern New England President and General Manager for Verizon Northern New England:

"Everyone who knew Ed Dinan realized how brilliant he was. We also knew that he was witty, thoughtful, and kind. After his high-powered career in telecommunications, including serving as Regional President for Verizon in New England, where I first got to know him, Ed chose to teach at Northeastern University in the School of Business. That didn't surprise me. With his outstanding academic record and his years as a mentor to so many in the business world, Ed was a natural to inspire and teach students to be future business leaders. He loved teaching, and his students loved him.

"Ed enjoyed his many roles – as a scholar, professor, business executive, and civic leader, he always made a positive difference. But Ed was most proud of his role as a devoted husband and dedicated father.

"I know that his wife, Mary, and their children are devastated by the shock of losing Ed so suddenly. May God bless them abundantly and help them bear the sorrow of this difficult time. And may they find comfort in knowing that they had such a wonderful husband and father."
