LEWISTON, ME – U.S. Senator Susan Collins visited the Lewiston Police Department yesterday to meet with Lewiston Police Chief Carly Conley and other members of the department. During the visit, Senator Collins discussed the public safety challenges facing the Lewiston community and toured the department’s new headquarters.
Chief Conley, who has served with the Lewiston Police Department for 25 years, was sworn in as Chief in November 2025 and is the first woman to lead the department.
“I had a productive conversation with Lewiston Chief of Police Conley and her incredible team about the challenges facing the Lewiston community, including the rise of violent juvenile crime, which is a real tragedy for everyone involved,” said Senator Collins. “The men and women of the Lewiston Police Department put their lives on the line every day to keep local residents safe. I’ll continue doing everything I can to support them and the critical work they do.”
Earlier this year, Senator Collins, Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, secured nearly $2.2 million through appropriations legislation to support the Lewiston PD’s purchase of protective gear and other public safety equipment.
