Senator Collins Meets with New Commander of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins met with Captain David Hunt, who will become the new commander of Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNSY) this summer.  Captain Hunt previously served at PNSY from 2010 to 2013 as the Operations Officer and the Engineering and Planning Department Head.

“I was delighted to meet with Captain Hunt and congratulate him on his new position at PNSY,” said Senator Collins.  “PNSY is the most productive of our four public shipyards, and I am very proud of its highly-skilled and hardworking employees.  I look forward to working with Captain Hunt to ensure that the shipyard has the support it needs to continue to be the gold standard of our public shipyards.”

Captain Hunt currently serves as the Deputy for Shipyard Operations at Naval Sea Systems Command and has served in various positions at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Pearl Harbor Shipyard.  He will replace the current PNSY commander, Captain William Greene, in late July.
