SENATOR COLLINS HONORS JANE GRAY MUSKIE
Washington, DC - Following the news today that Jane Gray Muskie, the wife of former Maine Senator Edmund Muskie, has passed away, Senator Susan Collins released the following statement:
"My deepest condolences go out to the Muskies' children, grandchildren, and the entire family.
"Jane Muskie will long be remembered as a supportive partner to her extraordinary husband and as a wonderful mother to her children. Together, she and Senator Muskie devoted their lives to serving Maine and our nation, and they always made Mainers proud. Jane represented our state and country with dignity and grace as the First Lady of Maine, and in Washington, D.C., first as a Senator's spouse and later as the wife of the Secretary of State. She was a loyal keeper of her husband's legacy and also successful in her own right as an author. She will be missed by all."
