Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Susan Collins met with Meredith Cherry, a Machias native, and her fiancé, Matt McLaughlin, in her Washington, D.C., office.  Meredith is the current Policy Director for the Maine Senate Majority Office and previously worked in the Senator’s D.C. office as the Assistant to the Chief of Staff.

“As a former member of my staff, Meredith demonstrated her strong work ethic, public policy acumen, and devotion to public service.  She did an outstanding job serving Mainers in my D.C. office, and she continues to work hard for the people of Maine as the Policy Director for the Maine Senate Majority Office,” said Senator Collins. “It was wonderful to see Meredith again and to meet her fiancé, Matt.”

After working in Senator Collins’ D.C. office for three years, Meredith moved back to Maine in 2014 and worked as a Policy Assistant for the Office of the Maine Senate President until being promoted in 2016 to Policy Director for the Maine Senate Majority Office.  She currently resides in Topsham.
