SENATOR COLLINS EXPRESSES GRIEF OVER DEATH OF SOLDIER WITH MAINE TIES

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Senator Susan Collins released the following statement today after learning of the death of Specialist Matthew Evan Schneider, an active duty soldier from Gorham, New Hampshire, whose family lives in Maine.  Specialist Schneider died in Ramadi, Iraq after suffering from cardiac arrest.  He was not engaged in hostile activities at the time.   He was assigned to the 141st Signal Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division.     “My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Specialist Matthew Schneider.  I was saddened to learn of the passing of a dedicated service member and I know the citizens of Maine join me in thanking Matthew Schneider for selfless his service to our nation.”
