Jennifer was a bedrock of stability for the other family members of the 94th during the company's lengthy 20-month deployment," Senator Collins said. "The often-forgotten heroes of war are those loved ones that stay behind at home. Jennifer's husband and his fellow soldiers should be proud of the manner in which she supported the family members that stayed on the homefront."
The VFW Military Family Member Volunteer Service Award is only distributed to one family member from each of the five military branches. The award recognizes family members who have contributed significantly to the support of the military community and the family support program over time.
