SENATOR COLLINS ANNOUNCES SHIP VISITS TO MAINE

WASHINGTON, DC—Senator Susan Collins, who is a Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today announced that four Navy ships will be participating in events in Maine throughout the year.

"The presence of a Navy ship is an exciting part of Maine festivals, and I am pleased that the Navy once again has honored our great State by planning ship visits during holidays throughout the summer," Senator Collins said. "These ship visits will help bring together those who serve the U.S. Navy and the citizens they protect. As a Member of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, I am always moved by this proud American tradition."

The following ship visits to Maine in 2005 have been scheduled by the U.S. Navy:

? Eastport 4th of July Celebration from July 1 – July 5, the USS Ramage

? Belfast bay Festival, July 20 – July 24, the USS Leyte Gulf

? Bucksport Fort Knox Bay Festival, July 29 – August 1, the USS Nashville

? Rockland 58th Maine Lobster Festival, August 2 – August 7, the USS Gunston Hall
