"All of Maine, and particularly the families of the students, have good reason to be extremely proud of these five young men," said Senator Collins "Military academies have long garnered a reputation for turning out some of the finest men and women, who represent themselves and our country with pride and honor. I am confident these student will excel and continue to make Mainers proud."
The following students were candidates nominated by Senator Collins who have accepted offers of appointments to be members of the service academies' Class of 2008:
v James Booth of Verona, graduate of Bucksport High School, currently studying at McGill University – U.S. Military Academy
Bret Leach of Castine, graduate of George Stevens Academy – U.S. Naval Academy
A total of ten Maine students have accepted offers of appointment to the service academy for which Senator Collins appointed them.
