U.S. Senators Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins today announced that the City of Brewer has been awarded $6,500,000 in loan funding for the construction of a new public safety complex. The funding come’s from the USDA’s Rural Development program.
The new 30,000 square foot complex will be located on Parkway South, allowing for improved police and fire department response. Brewer’s existing public safety building was constructed in the mid 1950’s and is not centrally located in the city. The city currently employs 41 public safety workers.
“This funding is great news for the City of Brewer,” said Senators Snowe and Collins in a joint statement. “This will allow for the construction of a public safety building that the city strongly needs. The new complex will allow the City of Brewer to better serve its citizens.”
