WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins was recently named the second most popular U.S. senator in America in a comprehensive survey conducted by Morning Consult.
The polling found that Senator Collins has an approval rating of 78% among registered Maine voters, the second highest in the nation. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was the only senator with a higher rating, receiving 83% among registered Vermont voters.
The polls, conducted between May and November, asked more than 75,000 registered voters in all 50 states whether they approve or disapprove of the job their state’s senators are doing. Voters were identified based on their zip codes and other factors, and each state’s sample was weighted based on gender, age and race, using data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey.
